Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Structural Engineer to join our Atlanta-area team. You will lead structural design for transmission and distribution projects, adapting plans to budget and client needs, and mentor junior engineers throughout design and construction phases.

You will review drawings, apply applicable codes (IBC, AISC, ASCE), and coordinate with other disciplines to ensure quality and timely project delivery. Full-time on-site role with travel expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or related ABET-accredited program with 3 years of structural engineering experience.
• Or B.S. in Structural/Engineering Technology with FE exam and 3 years of structural engineering experience.
• Or M.S. in Structural Engineering with 2 years of structural engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural design from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Modify and review production drawings for transmission and distribution projects.
• Design structural components per project manager requirements.
• Apply knowledge of standard engineering concepts, codes, and procedures.
• Research and compile project data for managers.
• QA/QC and review of drawings and project data in CAD tools.
• Lead, guide, and mentor junior engineers in the structural practice.
• Conduct field inspections, measurements, or calculations for clients.
• Communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines.
