Job summary
Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - SRE to elevate reliability for Grafana Cloud databases (Mimir, Loki, Tempo, Pyroscope) across AWS, GCP, and Azure. You will partner with product engineering, own high-SLA reliability, and build automation to scale operations.
The role emphasizes multi-tenant systems, incident response leadership, and defining per-tenant SLOs within a remote, global team. Compensation is market-driven with equity and bonuses.
Qualifications
- 8+ years engineering experience, 4+ in SRE/production engineering.
- Strong Kubernetes experience in cloud providers and IaC tooling.
- Technical leadership and mentoring engineers.
- Experience operating multi-tenant production systems.
- Experience designing and implementing SLOs.
- Proficiency in Go, Python, or Java.
- Linux internals, networking, cloud storage, scaling.
- Strong problem-solving and incident response skills.
Responsibilities
- Own production reliability for high-SLA environments.
- Partner with product engineering squads in an embedded model.
- Design and implement automation to scale reliability practices.
- Define and evolve per-tenant SLOs and reliability models.
- Lead incident response, post-incident reviews and PIRs.
- Contribute to design docs and code reviews, influence product design.
- Build tooling to reduce toil and improve alert quality.
- Collaborate with engineering leaders to shape roadmaps.
