How we’ll deliver success:

We are looking for a Solutions Architect to be the Technical Lead for our largest partnerships and lead vendor integrations. This position will report directly to the Director of Engineering and partner with a Program Manager to build a visceral understanding of our partners' needs, create solutions, generate API specifications, and work cross-functionally with product teams to deliver value.

An ideal candidate will have strength in building relationships and partnerships, navigating complex domains, coupled with depth and breadth of technical expertise to provide robust solutions, with automated acceptance tests to meet partner needs.

Shipping & handling responsibilities:

• Experience leading technical integrations with SaaS products
• Interface directly with large company partners and build strong working relationships
• Determine the why behind the partner needs and drive solutions towards the actual need
• This position will have no direct reports but will work directly with other teams, lead engineers, and be accountable for partner initiatives
• Define API specifications, capture use cases and detailed scenarios
• Create solution architectures using Shippo-approved infrastructure, technology, and processes
• Build interim, bridge solutions to meet customer needs while longer-term solutions are prioritized on product roadmaps
• Own the customer developer experience, including Shippo SDKs and documentation
• Use partner needs to drive scalable solutions that can expand our product portfolio and be leveraged by other partners and customers for new capabilities
• Generate and scale automated acceptance testing (BDD, Contract Testing, TDD) for partner and customer API validation

Do you tick the boxes?

• 8+ years of experience in software development
• Experience engaging directly with customers, clients, and partners
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across all organizational levels
• Track record of designing scalable integration architectures supporting multiple enterprise clients
• Solid understanding of object-oriented or functional programming and familiarity with various design and architectural patterns
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Deep understanding of customer needs and passion for customer success
• Ability to anticipate opportunities, foster innovation, and build for scale
• Coding experience in server-side languages (e.g., Go, Python, Java, Ruby) and database languages (SQL)
• Experience with server-side MVC frameworks (e.g., Django, .NET, Spring, Rails, Phoenix)

Bonus if you have:

• Prior experience with XMS integrations (OMS, WMS, TMS)
• Experience working or interacting with shipping and postal carriers
• Experience using GoLang and Python in production
• Familiarity with microservices architectures
• Experience with APIs using REST, SOAP, gRPC, etc.
• Interest and experience in performance tuning, concurrency, microservices, security, data analytics, web stack
• Experience with Django
• Success in building scalable APIs or services
• Experience with DevOps tools (Docker, Terraform, CircleCI, etc.)
• Experience with AWS/Cloud services (EC2, S3, Lambda, etc.)

$175 - $238 a month

Our Compensation policy:

We value fair and equitable pay. The standard base salary range is $175k to $238k annually, typically centered around $225k. Different ranges apply based on location, e.g., higher for NYC and California. Actual pay depends on experience, skills, and market factors. Total compensation includes benefits and equity.
