Job summary

Vizient in Chicago is seeking an experienced software engineer to lead technical design and contribute hands-on to building scalable enterprise applications and AI-enabled solutions. You will translate complex requirements into concrete designs, implement robust APIs, and ensure secure, reliable production systems.

The role emphasizes mentorship, collaboration with Architecture and Security teams, and delivering high-quality software through CI/CD, testing, and observability.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and day-to-day engineering execution while contributing hands-on to software development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Design and develop scalable enterprise applications, APIs, services, distributed systems, and AI-enabled solutions.
• Translate product requirements and architectural direction into technical designs, implementation plans, and production-ready software.
• Develop AI-enabled applications and agentic workflows using large language models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), enterprise data, and external tools.
• Build reusable software components, services, integration patterns, and frameworks that improve engineering efficiency and solution scalability.
• Apply software engineering practices for automated testing, continuous integration and delivery, observability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Implement secure integration patterns, access controls, error handling, monitoring, and operational safeguards across software and AI solutions.
• Mentor engineers, provide technical guidance, conduct code and design reviews, and promote engineering standards across development teams.

At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $117,600.00 to $206,000.00.
