Job summary

Horizon3.ai is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Firewall workstream within Precision Defense. You will own design, implement integrations with WAF platforms, and translate attack-path evidence into actionable remediation guidance for customers.

This role requires deep Python expertise, leadership across teams, and a focus on reliability, security, and scalable architecture. You’ll mentor engineers, influence product direction, and deliver safe, observable workflows that protect live

Qualifications

• 8+ years of senior software engineering or staff-level leadership.
• Expert Python development for large-scale systems.
• Experience with WAF platforms and policy models.
• Ability to design APIs and service-oriented architectures.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical approach for the WAF workstream from design to delivery.
• Build integrations with WAF management platforms and APIs.
• Define correctness checks addressing validated paths while preserving traffic.
• Design durable, reliable workflows with retries and timeouts.
• Implement safety controls like authorization, auditability, and rollout strategies.
• Develop observability so engineers and customers understand assessments and recommendations.
• Contribute production code and lead design reviews for quality and security.
• Collaborate with Product and AI teams to align decisions with customer outcomes.
• Mentor engineers via influence and clear written decisions.
