Job summary

Intuit is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to build the Unified Fintech API and Capability Spec authoring system. You will lead API design for a scalable, contract-driven platform powering autonomous financial tools and agent-ready capabilities.

You will drive cross-team architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and influence roadmaps, while ensuring safety and compliance in fintech actions. Mountain View base and competitive total rewards apply.

Qualifications

10+ years of software engineering experience with API design and distributed systems at scale.
Staff-level or equivalent leadership experience across multiple teams and architectures.
Strong background in API platforms, OpenAPI/REST design, schema-driven codegen, and developer portals.
Hands-on experience with AI agent tooling (MCP, LLM tool/calling) and agent platforms like Claude or ChatGPT Actions.
Experience building CI/CD systems and codegen pipelines that enforce contracts at scale.
Familiarity with fintech domains (payments, lending, payroll, wallet) and safety/compliance for agent-initiated actions.
Excellent written and verbal communication; able to align engineering, product, and compliance stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Architect the Capability Spec framework and enable auto-generation of OpenAPI schemas, Skill manifests, MCP tools, and docs.
Consolidate fragmented API surfaces into the Unified Fintech API, an agent-ready contract.
Build CI/CD enforcement to block hand-edits to generated artifacts and keep specs, code, and docs in sync.
Create tooling to auto-generate Functional and Integration Skills, MCP tools, and client SDKs from Capability Specs.
Set technical direction across Fintech API teams and mentor engineers while shaping roadmaps.
