Gusto is hiring a senior software engineer to help build the tax experiences that power payroll, taxes, and compliance across the platform. You will design and implement end-to-end tax information workflows, collaborating with product, design, data science, and compliance teams to deliver scalable, reliable software.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with React and TypeScript, plus backend experience (Ruby on Rails, SQL or similar).
• Experience in Payroll, Taxes, or Compliance domains preferred.
• Experience with large codebases and scalable production code.
• Ability to bring clarity to complex problems and collaborate cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Execute on the technical strategy for your team's domain and align with OKRs.
• Design, build, and test experiences to manage tax information in Gusto.
• Advocate for customers and ensure taxes are collected, calculated, and filed correctly.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Design, Data Science, Compliance, and Operations.
• Mentor engineers to deliver holistic, scalable solutions.
• Drive product development from concept to launch, focusing on payroll, taxes, and compliance.
