Job summary

UKG is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Database Systems to design, develop, and optimize enterprise SQL Server infrastructure powering our cloud-native SaaS apps. You will lead database engineering efforts, promote best practices, and ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability across development and production environments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in enterprise relational database systems.
• Expertise with SQL Server, Always On, and SSIS/SSRS/SSAS replication.
• Strong Windows Server administration; Linux/UNIX is a plus.
• Proficient in Python and PowerShell scripting.
• Experience optimizing performance for multi-tenant SaaS environments.
• Ability to lead database architecture reviews and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server infrastructure for SaaS apps.
• Lead code reviews, reviews of database design, and define standards.
• Tune queries, indexing, and capacity planning for performance.
• Ensure reliability, monitoring, and on-call readiness of DB environments.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and automate database tasks with IaC.
• Document architecture decisions and promote engineering excellence.
• Stay current with cloud DB technologies and new tooling.
