Job summary

Kin is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape the architecture and engineering practices powering our insurtech platform. You’ll lead full‑stack decisions, guide scalable systems, and mentor engineers to deliver high‑quality, reliable software.

You’ll define standards, collaborate across teams, and drive architectural strategy while focusing on speed and resilience for customers and internal platforms.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expert proficiency in full‑stack development using Ruby on Rails and TypeScript (Angular a plus).
• Proficiency with SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and exposure to NoSQL.
• Experience designing scalable, distributed, and event‑driven systems.
• Strong architectural planning, system design, and technical documentation.
• Ability to identify and mitigate technical risks in complex systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and define full‑stack architecture within the scrum team with a clear technical vision.
• Write clean, maintainable Ruby and TypeScript code; model engineering excellence.
• Own architectural planning, design, and documentation for distributed systems.
• Mentor engineers across levels through reviews and coaching.
• Collaborate with Product and Design to translate business needs into scalable solutions.
• Drive refactoring, testing, and modern engineering practices for reliability.
