Qualifications

• 9+ years of software engineering experience with production systems.
• Experience across languages listed in qualifications.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and evolution of systems that power pull requests at GitHub scale.
• Define and execute the Pull Request Platform technical roadmap for reliability and scalability.
• Solve complex technical challenges across Git operations, databases, search, APIs, and asynchronous workflows.
• Design, develop, test, and ship maintainable solutions across GitHub services.
• Own and advocate for health of production systems, participate in on-call rotations and post-incident improvements.
• Set standards for testing, observability, deployment practices, and production rollouts.
• Write architecture briefs and proposals, run experiments, communicate tradeoffs and risks.
• Partner across teams to define scalable interfaces and lead service extraction and platform hardening initiatives.
• Provide mentorship and code/design reviews to grow engineering practices.
• Improve engineering and operations through automation and tooling.
