Job summary

Orum is seeking a Staff Full-Stack Engineer to lead end-to-end delivery and set technical direction for real-time, high-scale product surfaces. You will architect and build backend services and modern UI using Node/TypeScript and React while mentoring engineers and driving architectural discipline.

You will collaborate with Product and Design to shape roadmaps, own complex systems like SIP-based workflows and WebSocket experiences, and ensure reliable, scalable performance across the platform.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including Staff-level scope.
• Experience owning products/features through the full lifecycle—from discovery to deployment and iteration.
• Expertise with TypeScript/Node.js and modern frontend frameworks (React), plus strong SQL fundamentals with PostgreSQL.
• Depth in distributed systems or real-time application patterns (WebSockets/streaming/PubSub), and performance optimization across the stack.

Responsibilities

• Own complex product areas end-to-end—from discovery and design to implementation, rollout, and iteration—across Node/TypeScript backends and React frontends.
• Lead architecture and system design for real-time, high-volume workflows (e.g., call routing on an event-driven SIP softswitch, UI over WebSockets, streaming audio).
• Author clear technical design docs, set standards for code quality, testing, performance, and observability.
• Mentor and uplevel engineers through design reviews and feedback; improve developer experience and reliability.

The Role

We’re looking for a Staff Full-Stack Engineer to lead end-to-end delivery and drive technical direction across a real-time, high-scale product surface. You’ll architect, build, and evolve systems spanning backend services and modern web UIs that power live calling workflows (e.g., SIP/event-driven softswitch paths, WebSocket-driven experiences, and streaming audio processing), while mentoring engineers and raising the bar for simplicity, performance, and reliability. You’ll partner closely with Product and Design—your technical judgment will directly shape the roadmap as we treat engineering, product, and design as equal partners.

The Product Platform Team

The Product Platform team sits at the center of Orum’s architecture, building the foundational systems that power every product. You’ll work on CRM integrations (Salesforce, Outreach), identity and access, and the data flows that keep customer systems accurate and in sync. The team also drives AI-powered prospect enrichment, combining internal and external data to create smarter, continuously improving prospect profiles. Your work has massive leverage, accelerating every team, enabling the platform to scale seamlessly, and unlocking AI-driven innovation by creating the reliable foundations and data flows needed to build smarter, more intelligent products across Orum.

What You’ll Do

• Own complex product areas end-to-end—from discovery and design to implementation, rollout, and iteration—operating across Node/TypeScript backends and React frontends.
• Lead architecture and system design for real-time, high-volume workflows (e.g., call routing on an event-driven SIP softswitch, UI over WebSockets, streaming audio for speech recognition).
• Author clear technical design docs, set standards for code quality, testing, performance, and observability, and ensure designs scale simply as we grow.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with PM, Design, and other engineers to translate ambiguous requirements into intuitive, performant experiences; make crisp trade-offs and document decisions.
• Mentor and uplevel engineers through design reviews, pairing, and feedback; model engineering excellence and foster a culture of craftsmanship and clarity.
• Improve developer experience (DevEx) and reliability by influencing APIs, data contracts, testing strategies, and progressive delivery practices across teams.
• Participate in on-call and help uphold operational excellence for the areas you own.

What You’ll Bring

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including demonstrated Staff-level scope (cross-team technical leadership, strategy, and delivery).
• Proven track record owning products/features through the full lifecycle—from discovery to deployment and iteration.
• Expertise with TypeScript/Node.js and modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React), plus strong SQL fundamentals with an RDBMS such as PostgreSQL.
• Depth in distributed systems or real-time application patterns (e.g., WebSockets/streaming/PubSub), and performance optimization across the stack.
• Strong product mindset and communication: you simplify complexity, align stakeholders, and connect technical decisions to user and business impact.

Nice to Have

• Cloud infrastructure experience with one of GCP, AWS, or Azure; familiarity with CI/CD and progressive delivery practices.
• Experience in telephony, SIP softswitches (e.g., FreeSWITCH), or adjacent real-time/event-driven domains.
• Familiarity with our stack: NodeJS with TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, Google Cloud Platform, and FreeSWITCH.
