Job summary

Holly, the HR platform for city and county governments, is hiring a Staff Software Engineer, Product to set technical direction across the Holly product. You will own architecture spanning data, backend, frontend, and AI systems, delivering features used by governments and citizens daily.

This hands-on, full-stack role uses a modern TypeScript stack (React with TanStack Start and Next.js) and Postgres. You will work closely with the founders to raise the engineering bar and ship at scale.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and shipping production software at staff level.
• Strong full-stack engineering across backend and frontend.
• Experience shipping with TanStack and Next.js.
• Experience with AI/LLM features, tool-calling, and streaming.
• Experience building data-heavy product surfaces and API design.

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end from idea to production data model, backend, frontend, and rollout.
• Partner with the founders to scope work, make tradeoffs, and drive delivery.
• Lead high-impact projects that unlock customer value and revenue.
• Set technical direction for major initiatives, sequencing, and quality.
