Job summary

Holly, an HR platform for government, seeks a Staff Software Engineer, Data & AI, to own the Data Platform and AI systems. You’ll guide ingestion, normalization, and semantic search across public government data, coordinating with founders and product/engineering teams.

You’ll lead architecture, data modeling, and model-backed data processing, ensuring reliability and scalable data for the product, with emphasis on open-source and open data practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and shipping production software at Staff level or equivalent.
• Experience owning data platforms or large-scale data systems across teams.
• Proven ability to design schemas, data models, and data quality standards.
• Track record delivering ETL/ELT pipelines handling diverse inputs (HTML, PDFs, CSV).

Responsibilities

• Own the Data Platform health and drive cross-team decisions.
• Lead ingestion, normalization, and data quality initiatives end-to-end.
• Design canonical data models and support product engineers with datasets.
• Shape search, inference, and AI capabilities for the product.
• Make pipelines automated, self-healing, and observable.
