Job summary

Included Health is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join one of our product engineering teams. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this is a technical lead individual contributor role focused on strategy, engineering standards, and delivering high-impact user-facing solutions at scale.

You will operate across team boundaries to shape architecture, influence direction, and partner with Product, Design, and Data to improve member outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 7+ years in software development in a growth-focused role.
• Experience at a Staff level in a product-focused engineering organization.
• Backend or full-stack depth delivering customer-facing systems at scale.
• Balance hands-on work with strategic technical leadership.
• Cross-functional alignment across engineering, product, and design.
• Clear written and verbal communication in ambiguous or high-stakes situations.
• Bias toward ownership, outcomes, and long-term impact.

Job description

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join one of our product engineering teams at Included Health. Reporting the Director Engineering, this is a technical lead individual contributor role focused on driving technical strategy, elevating engineering standards, and delivering high-impact, user-facing solutions at scale.

As a Staff Engineer, you will operate across team boundaries to shape architecture, influence technical direction, and partner closely with Product, Design, and Data to build experiences that meaningfully improve member outcomes. You will be hands‑on in the code while also setting the bar for quality, scalability, and long‑term maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of complex, cross-team product initiatives
• Partner with Product and Design to translate ambiguous problem spaces into scalable technical solutions
• Establish and evolve architectural patterns that support growth and reliability
• Raise the engineering bar through thoughtful code reviews, mentorship, and technical guidance
• Identify and proactively address technical debt, performance issues, and systemic risks
• Influence roadmap decisions with a strong product and systems mindset

Qualifications

Pay

The United States new hire base salary target ranges for this full-time position are:

• Zone A: $174,320-$246,230 + equity + benefits
• Zone B: $_191,752-$270,853+ equity + benefits_
• Zone C: $_209,184-$295,476+ equity + benefits_
• _Zone D: $_226,616-$320,099+ equity + benefits

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for candidates based on their respective Zone. Below is additional information on Included Health’s commitment to maintaining transparent and equitable compensation practices across our distinct geographic zones.

Starting base salary for you will depend on several job-related factors, unique to each candidate, which may include education; training; skills; years and depth of experience; certifications and licensure; our needs; internal peer equity; organizational considerations; and understanding of geographic and market data. Compensation structures and ranges are tailored to each zone’s unique market conditions to ensure that all employees receive fair and great compensation package based on their roles and locations.
