Job summary

McKesson is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to provide technical leadership across the Access Engineering portfolio. This role drives architectural consistency, engineering excellence, and technical strategy across multiple teams and domains.

You will mentor engineers, maintain hands-on involvement, and shape the future of software development within Access Engineering. Priority will be given to candidates near Columbus, OH area, with no sponsorship now or in the future.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
10+ years of professional software engineering experience with enterprise-scale systems.
Experience leading initiatives across multiple teams and architectural domains.
Designing distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native applications.

Responsibilities

Define and influence architectural direction across the Access Engineering portfolio.
Lead technical strategy for initiatives spanning products, systems, and teams.
Evaluate tradeoffs and guide toward scalable, maintainable solutions.
Create reusable patterns and engineering standards.
Promote best practices for quality, reliability, security, and observability.
Mentor senior engineers and foster technical excellence.
