Job summary

Lower is building technology powering digital mortgage and home finance. As Staff Software Engineer, you will lead core services and architectural patterns, mentoring engineers and driving initiatives to improve developer efficiency and customer experience.

Hybrid work in Columbus, OH or Austin, TX; full-time W2 with visa sponsorship not available. You will influence architecture, collaborate with multiple teams, and help scale fintech platforms for homeownership journeys.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to lead architectural initiatives across multiple engineering teams.
• Strong CS foundations: algorithms, data structures, concurrency, design.
• Proficiency in our stack—TypeScript, React, AWS, Next.js, Node.js, C#/.NET, Go and Postgres, or the ability to quickly learn new languages, frameworks, and tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and evolution of scalable, reliable distributed systems across teams.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, driving engineering best practices.
• Partner with product, engineering, and business leaders to translate initiatives into scalable technical solutions.
