Job summary

Lower is building a technology-powered homeownership platform. We seek an Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers, shaping architectures, delivery, and engineering health while remaining technically engaged.

You'll partner with Product, Design, QA, and leadership to translate priorities into plans, mentor engineers, and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture in a hybrid Columbus environment.

Qualifications

• Meaningful experience leading or managing software engineers.
• Strong technical background designing, building, and operating modern production software.
• Experience leading engineering teams for complex web apps, APIs, distributed systems.
• Experience with TypeScript, React, Node.js, C#/.NET, Go, AWS, Postgres.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted software development tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of software engineers through regular 1:1s and performance reviews.
• Guide technical direction, architecture, and implementation approaches with Senior/Staff Engineers.
• Ensure high-quality software delivery with testing, reliability, observability, and security practices.
• Partner with Product, Design, QA, and leadership to translate priorities into plans.
• Mentor engineers and foster career development and inclusive team culture.
• Own delivery planning, risk management, and operational ownership of systems.
