Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own DevOps, CI/CD, and build platforms for NextGen infotainment across vehicle programs. You will design scalable pipelines for embedded Linux (Yocto) builds, automate release processes, and drive observability and reliability across teams.

You will mentor engineers, lead cross-functional initiatives, and work in a hybrid model with frequent collaboration across locations. A senior background in software and automotive domains is expected.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
10+ years in software engineering, DevOps, build/platfom engineering at staff level.
Experience designing and operating scalable CI/CD systems and developer platforms.
Experience with embedded Linux build systems and cross-compilation environments.
Hands-on observability practice with metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards.

Responsibilities

Define technical strategy and architecture for DevOps, CI/CD, and build platforms.
Design and operate scalable CI/CD pipelines for embedded Linux builds and artifact management.
Automate release processes with branching, versioning, and quality gates.
Build self-service platforms, GitHub automation, and dashboards to accelerate feedback.
Mentor engineers and lead cross-functional initiatives toward production.
