Job summary

General Motors seeks a Staff Software Engineer to own the architecture and delivery systems powering next-generation infotainment. You will drive CI/CD, build pipelines, and developer tooling across multiple vehicle programs to speed, stabilize, and scale software delivery.

This role demands hands-on leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and mentoring across teams to improve observability, quality, and reliability at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/SE/EE or related field.
• 10+ years in software engineering, DevOps, build/platform/release engineering at staff level.
• Strong experience designing and operating scalable CI/CD systems and dev platforms.
• Embedded Linux build systems, cross-compilation, or complex pipelines; strong scripting (Python/Bash/Groovy) and cloud experience.
• Hands-on observability with metrics/logging/tracing; ability to mentor and influence architecture.

Responsibilities

• Define technical strategy and architecture for DevOps, CI/CD, and build platforms across vehicle programs.
• Design and optimize scalable CI/CD pipelines for embedded Linux builds (Yocto/OpenEmbedded).
• Automate release processes including branching, versioning, artifact promotion, and quality gates.
• Build self-service platforms, GitHub automation, and dashboards to accelerate developer feedback loops.
• Lead end-to-end observability and operational excellence; mentor engineers and drive design reviews and process improvements.
