Job summary

Stripe is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for Link in South San Francisco. You will lead the design and delivery of new money-movement capabilities, turning ambiguous opportunities into reliable, scalable experiences for consumers and merchants.

This hands‑on IC role spans architecture, implementation, and cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, Data Science, Risk, and Infrastructure to ensure safe, scalable money movement at global scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend and/or full-stack software development experience with end-to-end ownership.
• Strong track record leading design and delivery of large, complex software projects.
• Experience building reliable backend services and consumer-facing experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical strategy, architecture, and execution for large Link initiatives that create new money-movement primitives.
• Own projects end to end from problem framing to launch and iteration.
• Build robust, scalable backend services and consumer-facing experiences across Java, Ruby, and TypeScript.
• Lead a project team of engineers, clarifying priorities, decisions, risks, and milestones.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Risk, Infrastructure, and Stripe teams to build safe, reliable capabilities.
• Navigate dependencies across Stripe’s payments and money-movement platforms to balance speed, UX, reliability, and foundations.
• Raise engineering bar through leadership, reviews, and mentoring.
• Shape long-term roadmap by identifying opportunities and risks for Link’s financial capabilities.
