Job summary

Stripe, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for Link to lead new money-movement capabilities, turning ambiguous opportunities into scalable experiences for merchants and consumers.

This hands-on individual contributor role spans the stack, owning large projects from design to launch, guiding engineers, and collaborating with product, design, data, risk, and infra to ensure safe, reliable payments globally.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend and/or full-stack software development experience.
• Proven track record owning large, ambiguous systems end-to-end.
• Strong full-stack engineering with backend services and user-facing products.
• Experience leading a team of engineers on large projects.
• Ability to operate in high-ambiguity environments and make durable decisions.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration across product, design, data science, risk, and infra.
• Strong judgement on reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Product-minded approach to engineering with business impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical strategy, architecture, and execution for Link initiatives.
• Own projects end to end from definition to launch.
• Build robust backend services and high-quality consumer experiences across Java, Ruby, and TypeScript.
• Lead a project team through execution with clear priorities and milestones.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Risk, Infrastructure, and Stripe teams.
• Navigate dependencies across Stripe’s payments and money-movement platforms.
• Raise engineering bar through reviews, mentoring, and feedback.
• Help shape longer-term roadmap for Link’s financial capabilities globally.
