Job summary

Harnham seeks a Staff Software Engineer to help build the next generation of our monetization platform as we move to a consumption-based model. This is a founding-style opportunity within a newly formed team focused on usage metering, billing infrastructure, entitlements, and revenue systems.

You will define architecture and technical direction for how product usage is measured, billed, and integrated across finance and operational systems, partnering closely with Engineering, Product, Finance,

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expertise with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Strong relational database experience, including query optimization and performance tuning.
• Experience designing and operating event-driven architectures.
• Experience building highly reliable systems where data accuracy and consistency are critical.
• Ability to lead technical initiatives across multiple teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable usage-based billing and metering infrastructure.
• Define and implement event-driven architectures that power revenue-critical systems.
• Ensure accurate, reliable collection and processing of billable usage events.
• Build and evolve integration layers between product systems, billing platforms, and finance systems.
• Develop entitlement and access management capabilities tied to plans, subscriptions, and consumption.
• Create self-service customer experiences for usage visibility, credits, upgrades, and purchases.
• Partner with Finance and Pricing teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Evaluate and integrate third-party billing, metering, and monetization platforms.
• Drive architecture decisions and establish best practices for reliability, observability, and scalability.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple teams.
