Job summary

Harnham in San Francisco is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own a modern monetization and billing platform, with hybrid work in SF. You will shape architecture for usage-based billing, pricing, and enterprise contracts, collaborating with Finance, RevOps, and Sales.

You’ll lead backend systems, ingestion, meters, rate cards, credits, and entitlements, and mentor engineers while aligning product and revenue goals.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Staff-level experience owning complex backend systems.
• Deep experience with billing, payments, pricing, monetization or quote-to-cash.
• Knowledge of usage-based pricing, subscriptions, credits, commitments and enterprise contracts.
• Distributed systems, event-driven architecture and transactional data.
• Experience with Finance, Accounting and RevOps.
• Experience integrating Salesforce, CPQ, NetSuite and payment/billing platforms.
• Strong product and systems thinking with hands-on depth.
• Experience with Metronome, Stigg or similar platforms.

Staff Software Engineer, Monetization Platform | $200K-$271.5K + Equity | San Francisco Hybrid

I’m hiring a Staff Software Engineer to take technical ownership of a business-critical monetization and billing platform at a rapidly scaling B2B SaaS company.

This is a high-impact Staff IC role for someone who has gone deep on billing, payments, pricing, entitlements or quote-to-cash systems and understands that modern billing is far more than generating an invoice.

You’ll help architect the systems that turn product usage, subscriptions, credits, commitments and complex enterprise contracts into accurate customer outcomes and reliable financial operations.

What I’m looking for:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• Staff-level experience owning complex, business-critical backend systems
• Deep experience with billing, payments, pricing, monetization or quote-to-cash
• Strong understanding of usage-based pricing, subscriptions, credits, commitments and enterprise contracts
• Excellent knowledge of distributed systems, event-driven architecture and transactional data
• Experience working directly with Finance, Accounting and RevOps
• Experience integrating systems such as Salesforce, CPQ, NetSuite and payment/billing platforms
• Strong product and systems thinking alongside hands-on technical depth

Experience with Metronome, Stigg or similar billing/entitlement platforms would be particularly interesting.
