Job summary

Google in Sunnyvale is seeking a software engineer to design and develop scalable infrastructure for modeling Google's next-generation server platforms. You will collaborate with team leads, PMs, and cross-functional teams to tackle complex challenges across hardware and software domains.

As part of the AI and Infrastructure focus, your work will span distributed systems, data storage, and security considerations to enable reliable, high-performance services at massive scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of software development experience.
• 5 years in testing and launching software products.
• 5 years building infrastructure, distributed systems, or related compute technologies.
• 3 years in software design and architecture.
• Experience with C++ programming.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of scalable and robust infrastructure for modeling Google's next-generation server platforms.
• Work with Team Leads, Product Managers, Cross-Functional teams, and executives to identify missing modeling, security, rollout, and reliability related capabilities.
• Address ambiguous and complex technical challenges in representing and utilizing hardware models, from early concept through production.
• Drive the long-term technical vision and strategy for the UHM-M ecosystem, ensuring components are well-designed and maintainable.
• Design and implement mechanisms to ensure the integrity, trustworthiness, and security of the model data life cycle.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience in testing, and launching software products.
• 5 years of experience building and developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• Experience with coding in C++.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, a technical related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role with leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
• Experience in data modeling.

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of scalable and robust infrastructure for modeling Google's next-generation server platforms.
• Work with other Team Leads (TLs) (L5-8), Product Managers (PMs), Cross-Functional (XFN) teams, and executives to identify missing modeling, security, rollout, and reliability related capabilities.
• Address ambiguous and complex technical challenges in representing and utilizing hardware models, from early NPI concept through to production.
• Drive the long-term technical vision and strategy for the UHM-M ecosystem, ensuring components are well-designed, maintainable, and meet evolving needs.
• Design and implement mechanisms to ensure the integrity, trustworthiness, and security of the model data life cycle, contributing to efforts like model notarization and verification as outlined in plans like go/uhm-m-tca-plan.
