Job summary

ED Wallach Search Group in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the architecture and development of production-grade, data-driven SPA frontends and backend services supporting real-time telemetry and complex workflows.

The role emphasizes hands-on full-stack engineering, system-level thinking, and mentoring engineers, with a strong preference for onsite collaboration in Sioux Falls and optional hybrid arrangements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in software fields.
• 8+ years of engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 6+ years with a master’s degree.
• Experience designing and delivering significant production software systems.
• Strong full-stack capability across frontend and backend.
• Ability to explain technical tradeoffs and architectural decisions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement core systems for data-driven SPAs.
• Design backend services, APIs, and data flows for real-time telemetry.
• Lead technical design for full-stack features with scalable implementations.
• Establish engineering patterns, standards, and code-quality practices.
• Make foundational decisions on application structure, service boundaries, and integrations.
• Resolve performance, reliability, and maintainability issues across the stack.
• Conduct architectural and code reviews.
• Mentor engineers through clear technical discussions and feedback.
