Job summary

Johnson & Johnson’s Vision team in Milpitas, CA, seeks a Staff Software Engineer (LabVIEW) to lead embedded software architecture for a safe, compliant medical device. You will drive design, development and integration for LabVIEW-based systems in a fast-paced, cross-functional setting.

In this role, you will advance a new product pipeline, mentor teams, and ensure rigorous software release processes while aligning with Credo and leadership imperatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 4 years, or Ph.D. with 2 years of experience in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Experience with LabVIEW RT or LabVIEW FPGA Modules ( FPGA experience using LabVIEW and National Instrument hardware is a must)
• Demonstrated ability in software / firmware development delivering reliable, testable and maintainable code for embedded system
• Experience with hardware / software integration and issue resolution
• Proficiency in LabVIEW under Windows or Linux
• Experience with software development best-practices, source code control, requirement and design documentation, code review, and software release
• Experience with at least one full cycle of commercial product release
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators in a fast-paced goal-driven environment
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

Purpose: Our Laser software team of developers are at the forefront of technology in the medical device industry. You will be making a vital contribution to the New Product Development pipeline and transforming patient care through innovation. Our Staff Software Engineer leads software/firmware development projects that provide creative, functional, cost effective, and validated product designs in a team-based environment. This is an opportunity for a key role in bringing exciting new products to market in support of the J&J Vision. This role is expected to contribute independently to the completion of project goals as well as work collaboratively with other cross-function teams.

You will:

• Ability to read and understand PCB schematics

• Strong familiarity with LabVIEW Object Oriented Programming (LVOOP)
• LabVIEW Professional Certifications: Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD), Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA), or LabVIEW Associate Developer

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$125,000.00 - $201,250.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

• Vacation -120 hours per calendar year
• Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado -48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington -56 hours per calendar year
• Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays -13 days per calendar year
