Job summary

Google Maps team in Mountain View, CA is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to advance privacy, geo, and cross-platform work across Android and iOS. This role emphasizes ownership of outcomes and influencing stakeholders while solving ambiguous problems and delivering scalable solutions.

As part of the Geo team, you will help shape product experiences for billions of users and collaborate with Legal, security, and product managers to align priorities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Own the strategy, scoping, and navigation of complex compliance initiatives across a large work group with long time horizons.
• Clarify, make tractable, and solve large, ambiguous technical problems, reducing architectural chaos and delivering scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Partner with Legal, product managers, security, and other engineering teams to align competing priorities and drive organizational consensus in the best interest of Google and its users.
• Identify future compliance requirements or privacy risks, designing preventive architectural safeguards into the foundational layers of GMM.
• Elevate engineering standards, influence designs beyond the GMM Client Infrastructure team, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
