Job summary

Google seeks a Senior Developer Relations Engineer, Developer Advocate for Google Maps, Earth and AI. This role collaborates with developers at conferences and online, advocating for their interests and shaping programs that foster a thriving developer ecosystem.

The Geo team builds maps and related technologies, empowering developers to integrate Google Maps into apps and websites. Strong technical leadership and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of work experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, solutions consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience.
  • Ability to take ownership of solutions and exert influence without authority.

  • Drive strategy around fostering a community of developers who work with Google technologies.
  • Represent the developers' voice internally to Product Managers and serve as Google support in development and implementation.

  • Maternity Leave (Short-Term Disability + Baby Bonding): 28-30 weeks

  • Baby Bonding Leave: 18 weeks

Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Relations Engineers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. Not afraid to be hands-on, you write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product engineering teams to improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs and testing new features.

An ardent advocate for these developers, you represent their voice internally to our Product Managers and serve as their Google support in application development and technology implementation.

The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.


Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.


US: $163000 - $236000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
