Job summary

Block is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Go-to-Market Engineering team in San Francisco. You will own the technical strategy for the go-to-market stack, lead engineers through complex sales problems, and partner with Sales, Product, Data, and Engineering to deliver scalable, AI-driven solutions.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 8+ years with a Master’s degree or a PhD with 5+ years experience.
• Experience setting technical direction and delivering complex systems across multiple teams.
• Experience designing, building, and operating production software using large language models and AI agents.
• Strong track record moving AI capabilities from prototype to production with observability and security.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy, architecture, and long-term evolution of our go-to-market technology stack.
• Design, build, and operate production-grade AI agents and automated workflows to reduce manual work.
• Lead technical execution across initiatives, review designs, and help engineers deliver high-quality solutions.
