Job summary

Garmin Ltd. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (GNSS/INS) for our U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. The role focuses on GNSS/INS based positioning, collaborating across Garmin product segments to advance positioning technology.

Essential duties include designing and implementing embedded C/C++ software, conducting research, and mentoring engineers. Strong experience with GNSS and Kalman filtering is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 14+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination
• Experience in GNSS positioning algorithms and estimation techniques
• Proficient in C/C++ for embedded, real-time environments
• Scripting to automate data analysis (Python/Matlab)
• Able to lead complex problems and mentor others
• Experience architecting solutions across groups

Responsibilities

• Contribute to advanced R&D in positioning technologies
• Design, implement, test and document C/C++ software for embedded systems
• Peer review of software/algorithm designs
• Collaborate on software/algorithm design approaches
• Provide reliable solutions to positioning problems
• Conduct technology feasibility studies and provide recommendations
• Represent Garmin with industry partners
• Contribute innovations and new design techniques
• Mentor less experienced engineers in software methodology and project management
• Lead in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
