Job summary

Garmin seeks a Staff Software Engineer (GNSS/INS) at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area to join the Core Platform Technology team.

You will develop GNSS and INS based positioning solutions across Garmin’s product segments, requiring strong C/C++ expertise for embedded systems and collaboration with multiple groups. The role emphasizes innovation, cross-functional work, and mentoring junior engineers while advancing positioning technology and applying advanced estimation

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 14+ years of related experience OR equivalent
Experience with GNSS positioning topics and estimation techniques including Kalman filtering
Proficient in C/C++ for embedded, real-time environments
Scripting skills (Python, MATLAB) to analyze positioning data
Ability to mentor and lead within a fast-paced team

Responsibilities

Design, implement, test and document complex software for embedded systems using C/C++
Participate in peer reviews of designs and algorithms
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance positioning technology
Provide reliable solutions to positioning problems and conduct feasibility studies
Mentor and guide junior engineers on software development practices and projects
