Job summary

Pinterest’s Service Configuration Deployment team builds the platforms, APIs, and tooling that make dynamic configuration and service coordination safe, scalable, and reliable for every service across regions and clouds. As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll own the end-to-end technical strategy and long-term vision for our configuration and coordination infrastructure.

You’ll define the future of these mission-critical systems, partnering closely with Traffic, Compute, Observability, and Cloud

Qualifications

• 10+ years in high-scale infrastructure and distributed environments.
• Experience architecting backend substrates in production.
• Experience with control-plane systems (examples: experiments, feature flags, ML config).
• Knowledge of IaC/CI-CD and deployment pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term technical vision for configuration ecosystems, ensuring safe rollout and governance.
• Lead migration of legacy substrates to modern platforms with scalable onboarding.
• Architect next-gen control plane interfaces and diagnostic surfaces for production states.
• Direct integration of coordination stacks across multi-region deployment, refining service discovery and substrate architecture.
• Leverage AI-enabled workflows to synthesize requirements into executable roadmaps with data-backed validation.
