Job summary

Reddit is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the technical architecture of our global media infrastructure. You will define strategies for ingesting, processing, storing, and delivering video and audio content with low latency and high availability.

You will mentor multiple teams, set engineering standards, and collaborate with ML/AI groups to enable media recommendations and GenAI inference, while evangelizing AI as a development tool across the organization.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a Technical Lead or Staff Engineer track record.
• Proven ability to design and operate large-scale distributed systems and microservices.
• Strong written and verbal communication to influence technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Architect scale designs for global media processing and delivery with high availability.
• Build and optimize backend services for ingestion, transcoding, and CDN routing.
• Partner with ML/AI teams to map media recommendation and GenAI inference roadmaps.
• Set engineering standards and define SLOs/SLAs for media operations.
• Mentor multiple engineering teams and translate product needs into technical roadmaps.
• Adopt AI-assisted tooling to accelerate prototyping while validating outputs.
