Job Description

Visa's Technology Organization, specifically the Payment Products Sales, Client Services, Experience team, develops and supports platforms used by our global business partners on a 24/7 basis. The Staff Software Engineer role is based in Austin, USA, focusing on AEM and Java within the Visa Access team. The candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining services using full stack technologies.

The Opportunity:

We seek versatile, curious, and energetic Software Engineers to solve complex challenges globally. As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be integral to a multi-functional team designing, building, and testing software products for a global customer base, impacting the future of digital monetary transactions.

The Work itself:

1. Design and develop systems impacting 40% of the world’s population, influencing Visa’s standards for scalability, security, and reusability.
2. Collaborate across functions to create design artifacts and develop software solutions for various Visa offerings.
3. Contribute to product quality, service technology, and new business flows within agile squads.
4. Build robust, scalable products for diverse customers including merchants, B2B, and government solutions.
5. Leverage innovative technologies to develop next-generation Payment Services, Transaction Platforms, Real-Time Payments, and Buy Now Pay Later solutions.
6. Engage in mentorship and continuous learning to make a global or local impact.

Essential Functions:

1. Demonstrate relevant technical knowledge to understand requirements.
2. Contribute to design and functionality improvements under minimal guidance.
3. Apply programming standards in AEM and Java to fulfill technical requirements.
4. Support the piloting of new technologies to enhance e-commerce user experiences.
5. Analyze bugs and verify fixes using debugging tools.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 5+ years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 2+ years with an advanced degree, or 8+ years relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 6+ years with a Bachelor’s, 4+ years with an advanced degree, or up to 3 years with a PhD. Deep expertise in AEM architecture, Java, frontend technologies, integrations, workflows, build tools, testing, content management, solution design, component development, security, performance optimization, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.

Work hours vary; travel is 5-10%. The role is performed in an office setting, involving standard office equipment use.
