Job summary

SingleStore is seeking a Staff Engineer to provide technical leadership for Flow’s end-to-end data path, from source systems to migration engines and customer experience. This hands-on IC role will own architectural decisions and drive durable, scalable solutions across the platform.

You’ll mentor engineers, set design standards, and collaborate with product and customers to translate real-world migrations into robust technical outcomes, including AI-assisted workflows.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building and operating production software or equivalent impact.
• Expert Java experience including debugging long-lived enterprise code.
• Experience with JDBC, SQL metadata, and schema information.
• Deep understanding of databases, replication, and data consistency.
• MySQL and PostgreSQL expertise plus performance engineering.
• Hands-on with CDC or similar streaming and replication tech.
• Proven ability to design reliable, scalable distributed systems.
• Experience with cloud-native services and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for Flow’s major areas and APIs.
• Lead large, release-defining projects from design to rollout.
• Make pragmatic architecture decisions balancing value and reliability.
• Design and implement production-grade software while coding.
• Resolve complex data consistency, replication, and performance issues.
• Establish design, testing, observability, and operational readiness standards.
• Lead root-cause analyses and drive durable improvements.
• Enhance production operations via runbooks, dashboards, and incident response.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Support, Solutions, and customers.
• Mentor engineers, lead code reviews, and develop future tech leaders.
• Create clear technical documentation for architecture and journeys.
• Advance AI-native development and agentic capabilities.
