Job summary

Scale seeks a Staff Software Engineer to steer vertical features and horizontal capabilities for the Federal unit, mentoring engineers and aligning requirements with stakeholders. You will orchestrate architectural consistency across the Federal team and define strategies for guardrails, explainability, and fleet orchestration.

You will ensure reliability across strict security classifications, communicate trade-offs to senior government stakeholders and Scale leadership, influence the long-term

Qualifications

• Experience building scalable web applications across front-end, back-end, and infrastructure.
• Ability to design for multi-security classifications and cross-team collaboration.
• Experience mentoring engineers and communicating tradeoffs to stakeholders.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled workflows and LLM integration.

Responsibilities

• Orchestrate feature implementation across the Federal engineering team to ensure architectural consistency.
• Define technical strategy for guardrails, explainability, and fleet orchestration.
• Ensure system reliability and performance across security classifications and network types.
• Mentor engineers in gathering requirements with stakeholders.
• Communicate trade-offs and strategies to senior government stakeholders and Scale leadership.
• Influence long-term product strategy and technical roadmap for Federal unit.
• Consult on the architecture of AI-powered solutions for large-scale federal contracts.
