Job summary

General Motors is seeking an experienced embedded software test engineer in Kentucky to lead OS verification, ensuring functionality, quality, security, and performance.

You will provide hands-on leadership across test planning, automation, and quality reporting, and drive end-to-end test strategies for complex systems.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in embedded testing, Python or C++, experience with Agile processes, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitHub.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of embedded software test experience in mobile or automotive industries.
• 4+ years of platform and embedded testing experience.
• Strong programming skills in Python or C++.
• Experience validating platform and system designs.
• Experience with test automation tool development and scripting; manual testing when needed.
• Solid knowledge of software quality assurance methodologies and tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Familiarity with Scrum/Agile software development process.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, and Artifactory.

• Provide hands‑on technical leadership across test planning, execution, automation, and quality reporting.
• Define robust verification strategies, create and implement automated and manual test cases, and drive end‑to‑end test execution plans for complex software systems.
• Analyze and review business and system requirements.
• Derive and produce accurate test estimates.
• Log, track, and verify resolution of requirements and software defects.
• Create test‑execution plans, categorize and manage test suites, and propose innovations in the testing process via tools, techniques, and process tweaks.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of embedded software test experience; background in mobile or automotive industries
• 4+ years of experience in platform and embedded testing
• Excellent programming skills in common languages such as Python or C++
• Experience with validating platform and system designs
• Strong experience with test automation tool development, and scripting, and comfortable with manual testing when necessary
• Solid knowledge of software quality assurance methodologies and tools
