Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Slack Desktop team. You will lead cross-functional initiatives across Electron and Slack, shaping architecture and elevating security, performance, and developer productivity across platforms.

You have deep experience with React, TypeScript, Chromium, and large-scale codebases, and you will mentor engineers while collaborating with multiple teams to deliver robust desktop and web experiences.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience writing client-side code (React + Typescript) for modern web applications at scale.
• Deep Chromium experience, or experience contributing to large scale open source projects.
• Development at Scale: experience working in a large-scale, shared codebase with hundreds of contributors, where you have established patterns for collaboration.
• Strategic Architecture: expertise in building complex systems and tooling, guiding major technical decisions.
• Business Alignment: strong communication tying infrastructure to company goals like performance and reliability.
• Technical Breadth: experience with performance profiling and debugging tools for web-based desktop apps.
• Empathy and willingness to coach others and learn continuously.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: lead cross functional initiatives across Electron and Slack related to productivity, OS stability, performance, or security with desktop/frontend stakeholders.
• Technical Standards: contribute to architectural decisions to adapt frontend and desktop infrastructure for new features.
