Job summary

Anthropic is seeking software engineers to build safety and oversight mechanisms for AI systems. You will create monitoring to detect unwanted model behaviors and enforce usage policies across cloud-native deployments, including provider-agnostic infrastructure and sandboxed runtimes.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in software engineering, strong Python skills, and experience with distributed systems, IaC, and secure data handling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or comparable experience.
• Proficiency in Python, Distributed Systems, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with sandboxing/isolation technologies or systems programming languages such as Rust.

Responsibilities

• Develop monitoring systems to detect unwanted behaviors and surface results to analysts.
• Deploy monitoring systems across multiple clouds with consistent pipelines and observability.
• Design and harden sandboxed runtimes with isolation, network controls, and audit logging.
• Manage cost and capacity for large volumes of agent work and meet SLIs/SLOs for the platform.
• Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and legal/privacy teams to ship detection work.
