Job summary

SimSpace is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the Attack and User Emulation (AUE) team to build and scale containerized microservices powering realistic cyber range simulations. You will set technical direction, mentor engineers, and shape architecture while delivering high-fidelity emulation of cyber attacks and user personas.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software development with distributed systems.
• Technical lead or Staff-level experience.
• Proficient in Java or Kotlin, API design.
• Experience with event-driven messaging systems.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerization.
• Strong unit/integration testing skills.
• Strong communication and architecture review skills.
• Understanding of offensive security methods and networking concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core services for offensive cybersecurity and user emulation in the range simulation environment.
• Own and drive end-to-end technical projects from requirements gathering to deployment.
• Mentor engineers and promote coding best practices and architecture design.
• Define and evangelize technical architecture and best practices.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and UX Designers for user-centered solutions.
• Take ownership of cross-team outcomes reflecting broader org needs.
• Partner with other teams as consumer and provider of APIs and services.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with partner engineering teams.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
• Implement monitoring and alerting for high uptime and quick issue response.
• Ensure security/compliance controls are integrated into the lifecycle.
• Identify tooling/architecture gaps and drive improvement initiatives.
