The role emphasizes SRE/production engineering with on-call rotations, automation, and developer tooling. California-based positions offer a base salary of USD 232,000 to 258,000 per year, plus bonus/equity and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience using Go, Java, Python, or similar programming languages.
• Experience delivering engineering solutions end-to-end, including problem definition, architecture planning, implementation, testing, and delivery.
• Ability to write clear technical proposals and RFCs, and drive engineering alignment across teams through design documents.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain software that improves reliability, scalability, and efficiency of production services across data centers.
• Lead engineering initiatives end-to-end within the team and across Uber Engineering to improve reliability via automation and tooling.
• Work with engineers to promote practical, reliable architectures and implementations.
• Apply SRE principles: observability, load testing, chaos testing, on-call practices, incident management, failovers, disaster recovery.
• Participate in on-call rotations and drive post-incident improvements to prevent recurrence.
