Uber Technologies Inc. seeks a Production Engineer to blend software engineering with reliability at scale.
You will design, build, and maintain tools that improve MTBF, TTD, and TTM, across thousands of services, while guiding practical, reliable architectures and incident response. You’ll lead end-to-end initiatives, mentor engineers, and participate in on-call rotations, delivering scalable, observable systems and automation across Uber’s global platform.
Engineering at Uber means building for real-world impact under real-world constraints. The problems are complex, the systems are massive, and the pace is fast. You'll need to make smart decisions with imperfect information and own them. If you think in systems, thrive in ambiguous, high-stakes environments, and care about building things that actually work, this is where you'll grow.
Core Services Production Engineering is a software engineering team, not a traditional operations or systems administration team. We solve reliability problems by writing code—building chaos testing tools, traffic engineering and dependency safety frameworks, automation tools, and observability primitives.
As a Production Engineer, you will blend multiple domains of software engineering to ensure Uber's services run reliably at massive scale, while improving compute efficiency and accelerating developer productivity across a platform that serves millions of users around the world.
Our main focus areas include:
If you've worked in an SRE, Production Engineering, or Reliability Engineering role with a strong software engineering focus—or are energized by solving complex engineering challenges and building tools that empower an entire engineering organization—you belong on this team.
