Job summary

Google is seeking software engineers to design and optimize large-scale data processing systems and contribute to BigQuery. Candidates should have 8+ years in languages like Java, C/C++, or Python, plus strong experience in distributed systems and GPU programming.

The role emphasizes leadership, cross-team collaboration, and building scalable, maintainable infrastructure across multi-cloud environments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including Java, C/C++ or Python.
5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
Experience with GPU programming (CUDA, OpenCL) and optimization techniques.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership on projects.
Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large-scale software solutions.
Improve BigQuery engine to remove bottlenecks for low latency queries, design solutions that are easy to maintain and extend.
Work with BigQuery and Dremel codebase, which is primarily C++ with some Java in data planes and Python for tests.
