Gusto is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Benefits Renewals team. You will work across the full product lifecycle, writing frontend code, building APIs, and influencing product direction.

You will mentor engineers, tackle large-scale projects, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver robust, scalable renewal workflows. Onsite onboarding at a Gusto office is required.

Competenze

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Experience owning multi-quarter projects solving complex engineering problems with measurable impact.
• Experience driving large cross-functional projects end to end through ambiguity.
• Experience implementing A/B tests or experimentation.
• Experience using AI tools to accelerate development and testing.
• Curiosity about emerging AI frameworks and best practices for safe scaling.
• Ability to mentor engineers and build well-structured, well-documented code.
• Strong communication across engineering teams and business stakeholders.
• Experience in Ruby on Rails and an appreciation for collaborative, test-driven environments.
• Travel to a Gusto office for onboarding is required.
