Job summary

Waymo is seeking a data-minded software engineer or data scientist for the Planner Evaluation team in a hybrid role. You will develop signals to measure the Waymo driver’s performance using statistics, physics, algorithms, and machine learning, and you will mine real-world logs and simulations to quantify driving quality.

Experience with large code bases in C++, Python, and SQL, along with statistics and data processing pipelines, is essential.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or quantitative field.
• 5+ years industry experience with large code bases.
• Experience with C++, Python, and SQL.
• Ability to navigate complex systems and complete projects.
• Statistical analyses and data processing pipelines experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop signals to measure driving performance.
• Mine real-world logs and use simulations to evaluate driving quality.
• Connect onboard changes to simulated outcomes.
• Champion code health and maintainability in a large code base.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, statisticians, and leadership.
• Deliver evaluation products for data-driven decisions.
