Job summary

Waymo is seeking experienced data-minded software engineers for the Planner Evaluation team to measure and improve the Onboard software stack. You will develop signals, use simulations and real-world logs to assess driving performance, and design methods to connect changes to outcomes.

Qualifications include a BS in a quantitative field and 2–3 years of industry experience with C++, Python, and SQL, plus strong data fluency and statistics experience.

Qualifications

• BS in CS/Robotics/Statistics/Physics or related quantitative field.
• 2–3 years of industry experience with a large code base in C++, Python and SQL.
• Experience in statistics, data processing pipelines, and code health.
• Quant/data fluency is a top requirement.

Responsibilities

• Develop signals to measure performance and driving quality of the Waymo driver.
• Use simulation and real-world logs to assess driving performance.
• Design methods linking onboard changes to simulated outcomes.
• Promote code health and maintainability in a large code base.
• Analyze data and recommend improvements to metric quality.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, statisticians and leadership.
