Google is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the XR Audio Platform. You will own the long-term roadmap for XR audio, drive cross‑team collaboration, and ensure top-tier audio quality across smart glasses and XR devices.
You will work with hardware, DSP, software architecture, and external partners to deliver integrated audio solutions. Ideal candidates have 8+ years in software development and audio systems, with experience in embedded/real-time architectures, DSP, and multi-device tuning.
Experience owning outcomes and decision making, solving ambiguous problems and influencing stakeholders;deep expertise in domain.

The XR Audio team is dedicated to creating immersive audio experiences that seamlessly blend the physical and digital worlds across a portfolio of XR smart glasses spanning audio-only devices, monocular and binocular smart eyewear, and fully immersive, mixed-reality headset.
The team operates at the intersection of acoustics, hardware co-design, digital signal processing, and system software. We own the end-to-end audio pipeline, starting from raw acoustic design and physical hardware co-design up to platform-level audio frameworks and high-level conversational feature enablement. We partner closely with hardware engineering teams, algorithm designers, software architects, external silicon vendors, and key component suppliers to deliver industry-leading audio quality.

XR team is at the forefront of the next major leap – the convergence of AI and XR. This is more than just new devices – it's about reimagining how we interact with the world around us. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $262000 - $364000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits
