Job summary

ID.me seeks a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and execution of an internal developer platform and AI‑driven automation. You will build developer tools, multi‑agent workflows, and LLM orchestration to empower engineering teams at scale.

The role focuses on internal platform engineering with no customer‑facing responsibilities, requires full‑time in‑office attendance in Mountain View, CA. Relocation or visa sponsorship are not offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend, distributed architectures, or core platform tools.
• 2+ years operating at Staff or Principal engineering scope.
• Demonstrated technical leadership mentoring at least 2 engineers and leading architecture reviews.
• Strong hands‑on coding in Java, Python, or Go.
• Deep experience in microservices, RESTful services, and event‑driven Architectures.

Responsibilities

• Architect AI-Augmented Developer Tools and internal platforms for scalable software delivery.
• Design agentic systems and LLM orchestration for multi‑agent workflows.
• Develop workflow abstractions using DSLs and FSMs to model complex tasks.
• Maintain state with near real‑time memory and shared sessions across tools.
• Implement high‑availability patterns with Redis, Kafka and DLQ bridges.
• Establish AI guardrails, logging, and safety standards for internal data.
• Instrument telemetry and health checks to feed Datadog dashboards.
• Provide technical leadership, reviews, and mentorship for engineers.
• Measure DevEx and drive productivity through metrics.
