Job summary

Walmart is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. You will drive the full SDLC with cloud-native architecture, mentor teams, and collaborate across units to deliver high-quality software aligned with Walmart’s strategic goals.

The role sits within the Affiliates engineering platform team, supporting core affiliates, content affiliates, and the influencer network, contributing significantly to revenue.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE or related field with 4 years’ software engineering experience
• Alternative: 6 years software engineering experience in related area
• Experience with cloud-native architectures and scalable systems

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of scoped features aligned to platform objectives
• Architect and implement clean, maintainable code in Scala, Python, and Java
• Leverage CI/CD and testing, with focus on AI/ML and agentic solutions
• Build distributed, data-intensive systems using Kafka, Spark, GCP and APIs
• Integrate AI/ML components to enhance functionality and efficiency
• Mentor peers and drive design reviews and best practices
• Translate business requirements into actionable technical solutions
• Monitor performance and ensure reliable delivery
