Job summary

AlphaSense is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own technical direction and mentor engineers across teams. You will shape systems for years, building backend services and high-throughput pipelines that turn raw content into searchable intelligence, while leveraging AI tools to accelerate development.

This role requires deep product knowledge in scalable architectures, DevOps, and collaboration with product leadership to drive reliability and system-wide improvements.

Qualifications

• Strong in Python and backend systems with production experience.
• Designed and owned production systems serving real users at scale.
• Led cross-team technical initiatives without formal authority.
• Strong system design instincts for scalable, reliable services.
• Deep DevOps experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure.
• Mentored engineers and raised team standards through coaching.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and own the roadmap for your area.
• Turn ambiguous problems into concrete deliverables across teams.
• Design and deliver scalable, production-grade systems.
• Leverage AI/ML capabilities where appropriate in production.
• Lead RFCs, architectural reviews, and cross-team alignment.
• Monitor SLOs/SLIs and maintain production reliability.
